Advocate Psychotherapy Services can also provide a training site for people looking to complete the licensure process in Wisconsin. Three thousand hours and at least two years of counseling experience is needed to be gained after someone receives his or her graduate degree. In addition, those “Resident Therapists” who are training need to be supervised as part of that process.
Steven L. Johnson is an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) who can aid men and women that are pursuing their hours toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services’ Examining Board for each of these licenses has put Steve Johnson on the list of approved supervisors for these professions.
The training experience and opportunity for gaining paid hours comes primarily from the agency’s three school based offices, but Resident Therapists can also share outpatient office space in our main office as well. Opportunities for training slots change from time to time depending upon clinic needs. there is space and opportunity for a limited number of applicants to pursue their training hours at APS. For more information about training, please contact Steve Johnson at 800-681-2374.
